ABOUT BGP

  BACKGROUND

BGP Bio-Power was established in 2001 as a European subsidiary of BGP Inc.

The BGP gasifies or vaporizes the waste through high heat at 850 to 1400 Celsius degrees. There are many advantages to the BGP technology such as: handling a variety of bio-hazardous waste; produces environmentally safe air emissions meeting U.S. E.P.A. and E.U. emission standards; machines are safe and easy to operate; reliable and cost effective with minimum maintenance; i.e. design makes the machine very fuel efficient and can co-generating hot water or electricity.

Engineering analysis shows that the BGP machines can produce electricity on a continuous bases from waste material by banking 10 gasification modules to one steam manifold, which feeds one 10-megawatt generator. Each 10 modular package is capable of producing enough steam to generate 9 megawatts (9000 kilowatts).

The BGP machines can be custom designed to meet the specific needs of the users' and the type of waste being processed. The modular concept further ensures that waste can always be processed.

The BGP technology can treat: medical waste, drugs, sewage treatment sludge cake, manure, animal carcasses or parts, meat and bone meal, municipal waste and certain chemical wastes, rendering them totally safe.

Prices are contingent upon the size of the machine and the designated use of the machine. In the case of the latter, modifications may have to be made in order to meet the requirements of the customer and the country in which the machines are operating.

  BGP POWER-PACK

Co-Generation

BGP Inc. has examined the co-generation options that could be provided by operations of the BGP technology. In various opportunities reviewed in Europe and North America, there is very good opportunity for the production of electricity from the units during the destruction of agricultural carcasses, farine (meat and bone meal), manures, sewage sludge and non recyclable municipal waste. The determination of the potential for the co-generation of electricity has been done in conjunction with Sentinel Power Corporation and Combustion & Energy Systems Ltd. with equipment reference from Siemens.

The engineering analysis indicated that it is feasible to insert a steam coil directly into the tail end of the secondary chamber of the gasification unit. This is possible because the gasifier is a very clean combustor and acts very much like a boiler. From some of the types of waste being destroyed and using this approach, the steam coil will be able to produce superheated steam directly.

Based on this concept and to be able to provide continuous steam flow to the turbine generator, BGP gasification modules would be banked together (BGP POWER PACK) to one steam manifold, which would feed a generator. The modules would be phased in to the operation each day so that they would not all be cooling down at the same time. As new machines are developed, variations to the number of modules and the operation method as well as the amount of electricity produced, will vary.

There are several advantages to the BGP POWER PACK system of co-generation of electricity together with the fact that there is proper destruction of the waste products ( manures, meat & bone meal, carcasses, sludge, municipal waste, etc.).

The advantages of the BGP POWER PACK:

  1. Single modules can be shut down for repair without affecting the electrical flow
  2. Different forms of waste material can be put into separate or other types of modules without affecting the system.
  3. Because the electrical generation is separated into modules, even if one is shut down, electricity can still be sold to the grid.
  4. In producing the steam as a byproduct from the destruction of waste material, it is an environmental waste solution while producing power.
  5. The overall efficiency of this method is greater than most other solid waste co-generation systems.
  6. Based on the present assessment of costs, the waste to energy can be cost effective with a BGP POWER PACK.

BGP Inc. is presently involved with a number of opportunities in Belgium, Chile, Denmark, France, the Caribbean, the United Kingdom, and North America. These projects involve different types of waste and cogeneration. If any further information is required, please click here to contact a representative.

  USERS OF THE BGP

The BGP machines can be used by the following and more -- hospitals, clinics, laboratories, nursing homes, large manufacture farms, veterinarians, abattoirs, renders, pharmaceutical companies, government agencies and municipalities, law enforcement agencies, international airports and seaports, the military and world health organizations.

  OTHER USES OF THE BGP

The BGP's can be used to treat other waste material such as: contraband drugs, sewage treatment sludge cake, manure, animal carcasses or offal, municipal waste, certain chemical wastes, hazardous materials and in certain cases municipal waste with segregation, rendering them totally safe and producing negligible emissions to air.
