INTRODUCTION
The Brookes Gasification Process ( BGP),
can safely dispose of biomedical waste. The company is dedicated
to offering a state of the art biohazardous and infectious
waste control system.
Today's commonly used autoclaving of incinerating and landfill
method is not effective enough in killing the harmful bacteria,
microbes and prions in medical waste. As a result, when
these are put into landfill sites, they enter the human
food chain like other toxic material that are put into the
ground. Incineration causes an incomplete burn and bacteria
and microbes in the smoke are released into the air. Furthermore,
there are no offensive odours from the BGP technology as
there is from incinerators. The technology is a full cycle
solution that completes the biohazardous waste treatment
cycle by producing a 3% residual called CLEANOX. This byproduct
(a mineral salt), which has been tested for any contamination
has been proven to be 100% clean, can be recycled as a totally
safe manufacturing ingredient for fire retardant products
and as a filler for cement. There is no need for the residual
ash to be sent to landfill.
The BGP gasifles or vaporizes the waste through high heat
at 850 to 1400 celsius degrees.
There are many advantages to the BGP technology
such as: virtually a 100% kill of all bacteria, microbes
and prions; safe disposal of the entire biomedical waste
stream without segregation; reduces the need for landfill
with only a 3% to 5% by volume of sterile reusable residual;
cost effective and simple to operate; uses its own fume
for fuel, thereby reducing operating costs; co-generates
hot water or steam for electricity; handles a variety of
biohazardous waste and produces environmentally safe air
emissions meeting U.S.A. E.P.A. and E.U. eimssion standards.
The technology is a safe alternative to problems facing
people everywhere, such as dumping tons of partially treated
medical waste into landfill sites.
The BGP machines can be custom designed to meet the specific
needs of the users' and the type of waste being processed.
The modular concept further enhances the operation by allowing
for design modification for "continuous batch feeding"
of large projects, as well as continuous hot water or steam
generation and ensures that waste can always be processed.
Engineering analysis has shown that the
BGP machines can produce electricity on a continuous bases.

In summary, the Brookes Gasification Process is a patented
method of rendering infectious medical waste, pharmaceutical
and pathological waste totally safe. It produces negligable
air emissions and is the most environmentally friendly system
available. It is also the most efficient system in co-generating
hot water and electricity.
